My Dear Midtowner’s,
First Lady Sejal and me would like to Wish our Midtown Family, ‘A Very Happy and Prosperous 2018’.
We have completed the 1st.half our Rotary Year 2017-18 with interesting event’s in the fields of Service, Fellowship and Speaker Meet’s. While we strive to bring in quality event’s to our Club Member’s, I have found that participation at these events, by Midtowner’s has not been encouraging.
I sincerely request All MIdtonwer’s to participate at Midtown and District event’s, as your presence will be a great source of encouragement to the organising team, to bring even greater event’s to our Member’s in the coming month’s. The official visit of our District Governor – Rtn.Asha Prasanna, to our Club on 17th.November 2017, went off well, and Midtown’s contribution to the Rotary World was much appreciated.
Interesting event’s at the Club and District level’s, have been painstakingly planned in the coming month’s, and we seek every Member’s active participation, to make our Rotary World much for fun and enjoyable.
I look forward to an eventful second half to the Rotary Year 2017-18.
Your’s in Rotary,
Uday Masturlal

Greetings to Members, Ann’s and Annets,
A warm wish to all Members and Ann’s for a very happy 2018. May the year be filled with joy and cheer.
It had been a pleasure to plan and host events and speakers for the first half but I must admit the response has not been encouraging for people who make the effort.
We do plan to bring interesting experiences for the second half and I sincerely hope it will see more participation from our members.
The club maintains itself through the member subscriptions and the second half invoices will be sent out shortly and we drop hope our members make the subscription payments in time to help us plan our club experiences.
Looking forward to a great 2018,
Cheers,
Kunal Patel

In Rotary, our diversity is our strength. This idea dates back to the earliest years of our organization, when the classification system was first proposed. The idea behind it was simple: that a club with members who had a wide variety of backgrounds and abilities would be capable of better service than one without.
In the years since, the idea of diversity in Rotary has come to be defined more broadly. We have discovered that a club that truly represents its community is far better able to serve that community effectively. Looking ahead, it is clear how essential diversity will remain in Rotary: not only to strong service today, but to a strong organization in the future.
One of the most pressing aspects of diversity to address in our membership is the age of our members. When you look around at almost any Rotary event, it becomes immediately obvious that the age range in the room does not promise a sustainable future for our organization. Our membership is near a record high, and we are bringing in new members all the time – yet only a small minority of those members are young enough to have decades of Rotary service ahead of them. To ensure a strong and capable Rotary leadership tomorrow, we need to bring in young and capable members today.
We also cannot discuss diversity in Rotary without addressing the issue of gender. It is difficult to imagine that just three decades ago, women could not join Rotary. Although we have come a long way since then, the legacy of that misguided policy is still with us. Far too many people continue to think of Rotary as an organization only for men, and that idea has had a detrimental effect on both our public image and our membership growth. Today, women make up just over 21 percent of Rotary’s membership. While this is certainly a great improvement, we have a long way to go to meet what should be the goal of every club: a gender balance that matches the balance of our world, with as many women in Rotary as men.
Whatever brought each of us to Rotary, we stay because we find value in Rotary membership and believe that our service has value to the world. By building clubs that reflect that world in all its diversity, we will build even more enduring value in Rotary: Making a Difference.

Club dues –
We are sorry to inform members that the Board, at its December meeting, decided to terminate the membership of four persons, as per the constitution of our club, due to non-payment of club dues. These members are – Mr Sujesh Govindan, Ms Champa Reddy, Ms Geeta Varadan and Mr Ramprakash L. Needless to say, the President and other Board members tried their utmost that such an event does not occur but to no avail. These persons are free to pay the club dues and apply for re-instatement of their membership.
We have sent out reminders to members to pay their mandatory contribution towards club projects and we are in the process of sending the 2nd half year subscription invoices. We urge members to pay at the earliest.
