?? Toyota Kirloskar Factory Visit

?? Ann???s Project – Hamper Distribution

MESSAGE FROM THE

SECRETARY:

Dear Members,

December was a festive month, with Christmas and New Year on

the horizon. We organised an educational trip to Toyota Kirloskar

and witnessed how our favourite Toyota cars are manufactured.

There were other interesting events throughout the month like

blanket and gift hampers distribution for kids. Closed the month

with a very interesting speaker who candidly shared his journey of

having built a successful internet start-up, reminding many of our

members their own journeys of having built their successful

businesses. This event was well attended and enjoyed by many

Rotarians, Anns and Annets along with some guests who felt

welcomed to our club. We start the New Year with renewed

enthusiasm to bring you more service events and interesting

speakers to enrich our charity as well as professional lives

Regards

Narendra Pasuparthy

Technological Training Institute) which is a large

division of the factory. The TTTI helps by giving

technical education to rural poor and then giving

them jobs in the factory. They admit only 64

children every year and only 2 to 3 of them drop

out, unable to cope with the rigors of the program.

The children are taken at the age of ???fteen and

study up to the age of 18.We were shown the

training grounds and the workshops where they

learn to take apart and rebuild the engine of a car

amongst other skills that are needed for them to

work on the production line. In fact, there was a

skeleton of a Toyota innova with the gearbox and

engine that was running with the help of an electric

motor and most importantly it was built by the

children! The time now was about One O???Clock and

we had to leave the stunning TTTI facility. We were

then taken to factory No:2, built recently with a

production capacity of 250,000 a month). A guide

instructed us to walk on the green path when inside

the factory. As we moved along in pairs we came to

a station where all the doors were getting their ???nal

parts on, and ready to be reunited with the car. As

we moved a few steps further there was the station

at which the parts were being supplied to the other

stations at the assembly line. As we moved on we

came to a stop to see as to how the assembly line

works. The cars continuously moving at a very slow

speed, while well trained and skilled people built

the car piece by piece, next we saw the dashboards

being put together and a few interesting facts were

shared, if one bolt was missing from the dashboard

when its being put together the whole assembly line

comes to a halt and a red light goes o??? ???ashing. As

we moved a little further, we saw Toyota Ethos and

the Toyota Live cars, being lifted up by robotic

machine and put on another line. We even saw them

???tting the mudguards and some of the interior body

panels. The amount of mechanisation that had been

done to the factory was incredible. We were now at

the other end of the factory and our tour was at its

end. I???m sure this made all of us very sad for our

tour was at its end but not just yet, we still had the

Toyota Kirloskar Factory food to try. The whole visit

was a wonderful experience and big thank you to

Toyota group and Aditya Uncle to make it happen.

our fellow Rotarian. There were cookies that were

served with the co???ee. It was about ten thirty by

the time we entered the factory. We drove down to

the parking lot of the factory and regrouped. A bus

took us to a small building which had all the history

of Toyota Kirloskar Motors. There was a presentation

and we were told a few things about Toyota

Kirloskar. A few facts were the size of the land

which was about 452 acres, there are two facilities,

one of them was built recently and every three and

a half minuets a new car rolls out of the facility and

that over 3 lakh cars are made every year. We were

then showed two videos. One video involved the

process of how Toyota and Kirloskar were formed

and a little bit on how the cars are built. The second
