With Some Personal & Business Insights Throne In

On Saturday, 14th April 2018 the 18th meeting of the R Y 2017-18 was held at SoulCity Restaurant, U B City, Bangalore.

Meeting commenced with PP Rtn. Sathish Manandi, welcoming all Rotarians, Anns and Mr. Aroon Raman, speaker for the evening.  PE Rtn. Kshama Bhatia introduced Mr. Aroon Raman to the audience.

Aroon Raman has a post-graduate degree in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi and an MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, USA, majoring in both Finance and Marketing.
 
He ran his family company, Raman Boards Limited from 1994 till 2006. Under his leadership, the company became the third largest player in the transformer board market globally with a sales presence in more than 35 countries and a client list which included companies such as Siemens, ABB, Alstom and Hyundai. The company also moved to set up its largest manufacturing facility in China in 2006.
 
In 2007, Aroon divested Raman Boards to ABB Switzerland – the world’s largest power products company. He then set up Raman FibreScience, a specialty materials company to develop a special separator composite for batteries in automotive electric, hybrid-electric and industrial applications. After a series of breakthroughs in this space, Raman FibreScience was acquired by Hollingsworth & Vose – a world leader in energy storage and filtration.
 
Aroon now sits on a number of corporate boards and also engages with his personal passions: advising and supporting NGOs, trekking & travel and finally, writing. He is the author of three bestsellers in the thriller and adventure genre. He also speaks regularly on both business and non-business topics.
 
He has held several senior positions with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), and was the Chairman of CII, Karnataka State Council for 2010-11. He was recipient of the State’s highest civilian honour – the Karnataka Rajyotsava Award for 2010 for his contribution to the industrial development of the State.

Histroy of Delhi Sultanate and thier successors was very well narrated by Mr. Aroon Raman.  The meeting concluded by Rtn. Suresh Sud’s vote of thanks followed by Dinner.
